A 2018 Ram 1500 and every 2019 to 2024 Classic has Uconnect 4 or 4C, which added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 2019 to 2024 DT has Uconnect 4 on an 8.4-inch screen or Uconnect 4C NAV on a 12-inch screen, and a 2025 or later DT has Uconnect 5 on 12-inch or 14.4-inch screens.** The quick tell is CarPlay: if the radio offers it, it is Uconnect 4 or later. A used radio physically swaps within its body and generation, but usually needs its vehicle configuration matched to the truck. The 2019 DT launch release lists "Uconnect 4 with or without navigation on an 8.4-inch display" and a "class-exclusive, 12-inch reconfigurable touchscreen display featuring split-screen capability". The RA3 and RA4 codes for the 2013 to 2017 units are the labels printed on the radios themselves and used in the parts trade; Stellantis's marketing names were Uconnect 8.4A and 8.4AN. The 2018 change to Uconnect 4, the RA3 and RA4 labels and the Uconnect 5 sizes are what the trucks we dismantle carry; confirm on your own unit's label before buying. ## How do I read my radio's label? The radio's identification label is on the unit's case, which means the radio has to come out of the dash to read it. On a DS the dash bezel around the 8.4 pulls off and four screws hold the radio; it is a fifteen-minute job. If you would rather not, tell us the year, trim and whether the radio has navigation and CarPlay, and we can name the unit from that. ## Will a used radio work in my truck? Within the same body and generation the unit fits and powers up. The vehicle configuration is the catch: the radio holds settings for what the truck has (camera, satellite radio, amplifier, steering wheel controls, climate display on the DT), and a unit from a differently equipped donor can show things that are not there or miss things that are. Aligning that is a short job for a dealer or an independent shop with the right tool. We tell you whether the radio you are buying matches your options or needs that step. Navigation on the RA3 can be unlocked by a dealer; it is not something we sell. ## Can I move a radio between a Classic and a DT? No. A 2019 to 2024 Classic Uconnect 4 and a 2019 to 2024 DT Uconnect 4 are the same name on different parts, with different bezels and harnesses. Body first, always. ## Can I upgrade an 8.4 to the 12-inch screen? On a 2019 to 2024 DT it is done, but it is a centre-stack job: the 12-inch unit needs its own bezel, a different harness and climate control arrangement, and configuration. We can supply the pieces from a donor when we have them and will describe the job honestly. There is no 12-inch option for a DS or Classic. ## Sources 1.
