Used 5.7 HEMI and 3.6 Pentastar engines

We sell used 5.7-litre HEMI V8 and 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engines pulled from 2009 to 2026 Ram 1500 trucks in the Hamilton Region. Every engine is compression tested while it is still in the running truck, and the donor's mileage is stated in the quote. HEMIs are the engine most people ask for; the Pentastar is the value buy for a work truck. Before quoting we confirm one thing above all: whether your truck is an eTorque truck, because a 2019 and later eTorque HEMI is a different package from a 2018 HEMI.

395 hp5.7 HEMI rating from 2013 on; 407 lb-ft in 2013, 410 lb-ft from the 2019 trucks.
305 hp3.6 Pentastar, 269 lb-ft, in the Ram 1500 from 2013.
+130 lb-ftWhat eTorque adds to the HEMI on launch, per Stellantis. It is a 48-volt system, not a bigger engine.

What does "tested, good compression" actually mean?

It means the compression test was done on the running truck before the engine came out, with the numbers written on the tag. An engine tested on a stand tells you less, and an engine sold untested tells you nothing. We also start and listen to every HEMI for the lifter and camshaft tick that this engine is known for, because that is a fault a compression test alone will not catch, and we say what we heard. Mileage is the donor truck's odometer reading, stated in the quote.

Will a 2019 or later HEMI go into my 2018?

Not as a running assembly. Stellantis paired the 2019 DT HEMI with the eTorque 48-volt belt-driven motor generator on many trucks, and even the non-eTorque 2019 engines sit in a different truck with a different controller and accessory layout. The long block is the same family, so a rebuilder can use one, but a plug-and-play swap across the 2018 to 2019 line is not a plug-and-play swap. Tell us the exact truck and we will say which engines are a straight fit. The HEMI by year guide goes through it.

Why did the HEMI disappear and come back?

The 2025 Ram 1500 replaced the HEMI with the Hurricane twin-turbo straight-six. On 5 June 2025 Stellantis announced the 5.7-litre HEMI V8 eTorque's return for the 2026 Ram 1500, again at 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft. For a parts buyer that means one thing: HEMI demand did not go away, so good used HEMIs move quickly.

What comes with a used engine?

The long block with intake, exhaust manifolds and, where they were on the donor, the accessories. Whether the starter, alternator, air conditioning compressor, wiring harness and engine computer are included is set out in the quote, because different buyers want different things. If you are replacing like for like, tell us and we will quote it as a complete drop-out. A pallet-freight option exists for engines; pickup in the Hamilton Region is preferred and we load it.

Is the Pentastar worth buying?

For a work truck, yes. The 3.6 was the volume engine in the 4th gen from 2013 and in the Classic, so donors are plentiful and prices are lower than a HEMI. We check the oil filter housing, a known leak point, and listen for rocker-arm tick before an engine is tagged.
