Which hood fits which truck?

Is a Ram 1500 hood steel or aluminum?

The DS hood is steel. The DT hood is aluminum, part of the weight reduction Stellantis described for the 2019 truck, which took "225 pounds net" out of it. That matters for two reasons: a DT hood dents differently and cannot be repaired the way a steel panel can, and a magnet will tell you in a second which body a loose hood came from.

Can I put a Sport hood on my Big Horn?

Within the same body, yes. The Sport hood uses the same hinges, latch and bump stops as the standard hood on the DS, and the same on the DT, so it bolts on. The scoops are functional heat extractors, not decoration. The usual reason a buyer hesitates is colour: a Sport hood in a different colour means a paint bill, which is why we lead with the paint code.

What is checked on a used hood?

• Straightness, sighted along the panel and checked at the hinge mounts, where a front-end collision folds a hood first.
• Hail and dents, in raking light. Small dents are described and photographed.
• Prior repair: a paint-thickness check and a look at the underside for filler or overspray.
• Rust at the front lip on steel DS hoods, where salt spray collects.
• Hardware: hinges, insulation pad, prop rod or struts, and washer nozzles present or not.

How do I take a hood home?

Pickup only, on a pickup or open trailer, padded and strapped face-up. We do not ship hoods; a hood that arrives creased is worse than no hood. The ordering page has the table of what ships.
